The Art of the Start - this is pure, crystalized entrepreneurial wisdom. Charles and I have both blogged about it before, so I won’t go on. This book is truly useful. My dad taught me (by example) that if you read a book that affects you, call the author. Good things can happen. Yesterday they did.
We’re out in the bay-area for a slew of meetings and presentations. The night I arrived, I sent Guy Kawasaki an email - telling him how much Ive gotten out of his book and a few minutes later, he wrote back! (Ok, he knows my dad, which I’m sure helped :) He invited me to an Art of the Start conference he was hosting on Thursday. With Charles and I shuffling a bit, it was the only day that would have worked. The whole day was amazing - go to one of these events. In an audience full of Valley tech entrepreneurs, I sat next to Kristi Yamaguchi! I met some amazing (and *very* relevant) people and the speakers and panelists provided extremely useful insights. The content was very timely considering Jambo’s current phase transition from pure development into a customer-facing entity. Guy is an unbelievably kind, down-to-earth individual who happens to be *extremely* intelligent - I was thankful to spend the day at his seminar, and the connections I made were remarkable. It was one of those days that seemed to be filled with serendipitous linkage :).
